Photochromic
Lenses
These lenses are designed to automatically adjust to the amount of ultraviolet
light (UV) that reaches the lens. The transmission rate is the amount of visible
light penetrating the lens and reaching the eyes. The higher the transmission
rate the lighter the lens color. Clear lenses have a transmission rate between
80-100% and typical smoke lenses have a transmission rate between 8-18%. The
advantage of Photochromic lenses is that you can wear your eyewear from morning
into evening and not have to have multiple sets of eyewear with you or have
to change your lenses throughout the day.
Notes:
- Photochromic
lenses do NOT get as dark as traditional smoke grey lenses
- Photochromic lenses require UV rays to change, so will not work when used
in the car or behind face shields
- Allow up to 7 cycles of lenses changing from clear to smoke for full effectiveness
